Prince William will represent the COP30 climate summit in Brazil during November, as confirmed by the royal household.

The father and son duo appeared together on Thursday night at a event preceding the climate summit, which is set to be held in the Amazonian city of Belém.

The King and Prince were present at the Natural History Museum reception, marking an unusual joint appearance at a environmental conference preliminary meeting co-hosted by the British authorities.

Environmental Advocacy Commitment

The King has been a longstanding advocate of protecting nature - and Prince William has inherited the mission, with his own Earthshot awards, which will be taking place in South America before the UN meeting.

Palace insiders have characterized William's involvement at the forthcoming conference as stepping up an crucial position in "climate diplomacy".

Recent Engagements

The monarch and his heir, making a joint entrance in the state Bentley, were introduced to attendees such as conservation experts, scientists, environmental activists, diplomats and government officials.

This involvement included speaking together with French leader Macron of France and other international figures at the Blue Economy and Finance Forum in Monaco in recent months.

Last week the prince described the prize competitors as "modern-day pioneers".

Royal Climate Legacy

The monarch has been a key figure at earlier environmental conferences, giving the opening address in the United Arab Emirates for COP28, including the reminder: "We are custodians of the planet, not its owners".

"For decades I've committed a significant amount of my life trying to raise awareness about the existential threats challenging our world over climate change, global temperature increases and ecological decline," the monarch informed attendees.
