A urgent handwritten note delivered to the President by his secretary of state, Marco Rubio, suggested that an announcement regarding a ceasefire deal in Gaza could be made very soon.
Captured in a image, the note's contents urged the president to authorize a post on his Truth Social platform to announce the news first.
"Nearly there," the note stated, according to the photo. "You are needed to approve a Truth Social post soon so you can announce deal first."
Shortly after the note was revealed, Trump published on his platform, expressing he was "extremely pleased" to announce the initial stage of the deal.
"This indicates that ALL of the Hostages will be released shortly, and Israel will withdraw their Troops to an mutually accepted line as the first steps toward a Strong, Durable, and Everlasting Peace," he stated.
Trump was holding a discussion with conservative influencers about antifa when Rubio, standing in the rear of the White House's Blue Room, caught his eye.
He wanted to share an update for Trump, he explained, but it would have to wait until after the media left. Then, Rubio handed the president the message.
"I was just given a note by the secretary of state saying that we're very close to a deal on the Middle East, and they're gonna require my input pretty quickly," Trump announced. "So we'll take a couple of more questions."
The meeting had already been going on for more than an hour when Rubio came forward. The president welcomed him to enter, and Rubio whispered something to Trump before handing him the note.
The note's urgent tone came as Trump's key regional advisor, Steve Witkoff, Qatar's Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani and other high-ranking diplomats joined a third round of negotiations between Israel and Hamas at an Egyptian resort – a sign that delegates aim to dive deeply into the toughest issues of a American proposal to end the war in Gaza.
Trump had kicked off the influencer event by telling assembled journalists that he intended to travel to the Middle East "near the conclusion of the week" and could even "visit multiple locations" in the region to Cairo and possibly Gaza as US diplomats closed in on a deal.
Still, even after Rubio gave Trump the note, Trump kept speaking to the influencers and respond to queries from the media as the secretary of state became noticeably restless.
Almost 10 minutes after his earlier statement about departing, Trump declared: "I must leave now to try and resolve some problems in the Middle East – although I'm very well represented by our secretary of state. He could probably do an more effective job than me, but who knows."
"We wish to avoid to take any chances. So we're going to go and do that," Trump continued.
He then suggested that two attendees stay and answer inquiries in his stead. However, Trump kept fielding questions before the event concluded without administration officials remaining behind.
"We will achieve peace in the Middle East," Trump wrapped by saying. "That's what we want to do."
